Beginner Level
Let's write poems :)! Join me each week to learn how to write a different kind of poem! Each class session is structured like a mini-Writer's Workshop session. The beauty of Writer's Workshop is that students are able to write about whatever they want! Students do not need to be fluent spellers for this class. The goal for class is to help children find the joy and fun in writing poetry.
I have been an elementary school teacher for over 19 years. The knowledge and skills that I have acquired throughout my teaching career allow me to help young learners sharpen their writing skills. I have been fully trained in the Lucy Calkins Writer's Workshop Curriculum. I have also attended numerous BER (Bureau of Education & Research) trainings focusing on Writer's Workshop and how to teach young learners how to write. As a lead teacher, I have conducted many workshops for new teachers focusing on the Writer's Workshop model. I have also helped to produce many young Writing Festival winners throughout my teaching career.
