Class experience
In this introduction to Chess, students will be taught the name of each Chess piece and in what way the rules allow them to be moved. They will also learn how the pieces should be set up on the board when starting a game, as well as the basic rules of play. Through the use of charts, video, demonstration and participation, students learn the fundamentals of the game. Students should have a physical chess board with them in class. Worksheets, charts and hand-outs will be provided.
