While ballet typically requires substantial studio space, a ballet barre, mirrors, special flooring, and special shoes, Ms Annika has developed a method of teaching ballet to beginning teens through her years as a physical therapist and teacher for dancers and gymnasts. Beginning teen dancers need age-appropriate teaching techniques and visualization practices to learn ballet. Ms Annika's classes will give you a great workout--ballet-style! We will practice in bare feet on any surface of...
Students will develop proper movement patterns, muscle tone, and the grace of classical ballet.
Ms Annika is a former professional dancer who has been teaching in the studio for decades. She is also a physical therapist who specializes in adapting movement patterns to individual students' needs. Teens beginning ballet thrive with the variety of techniques to meet their goals. Ms Annika LOVES to work with these dancers who are ready to try new things!
Dancers will be given at-home exercises to stretch his or her strength, coordination, and balance at home.
You DO NOT need a professional studio or tons of space for these workouts. Not many people are graced with such infrastructure. I will video and teach from my basement, with no ballet barre, no ballet floor, and bare feet. This will allow us to use what we've got to maximize our workout and ensure proper technique!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students need an open workout space about the size of a yoga mat free from obstacles including dogs and little brothers, slip-proof socks or bare feet, a water bottle, and proper clothing. Since Ms Annika is a physical therapist, the whole goal of this course is to prevent injuries, but if the student in not properly supervised, as he/she would be in a studio setting, injuries may occur.
