Description
Class Experience
Do you have a young dancer or a child who loves to move? Come join me in a fun-filled class of dance. We'll start with introductions, then we'll do some barre activities with a chair. We'll work on basic steps like plié, tendu, dégagé, and battement. We will work on turns and leaps in the center, then we will play freeze dance or red light / green light, depending on the group of students. In this age range, I focus on the coordination of the body to get arms and legs where they need to be....
I have been dancing since I was three, and I have taken ballet the entire time. I've also helped teach dance classes for 1 and a half years. I have been trained in a pre-professional program that stresses technique and safety. I know the correct way to perform and teach exercises to ensure the least risk possible.
Water bottle Space to move around (at least 4x4 foot square) A chair or other object to hold on to
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Because this is a fitness class, students will need enough room to move around without injuring themselves. We will always do a warm-up and stretch before beginning, but it's important to be aware that inadequate stretching can lead to injuries. It is advisable for dancers to be barefoot to avoid slipping, and they may need a water bottle to stay hydrated. Note: if your student needs any accommodations for physical or mental needs, I am able and willing to accommodate and modify if I can! Just let me know your needs beforehand.
