Class Experience
Important Information for Parents: This is a beginning babysitting class. It is intended for children who either have never babysat before or are just getting started. We DO NOT cover infant care in this class. In addition, a beginning babysitter should not be expected to learn and absorb everything they need to know to be a safe sitter in a single hour of class time. Upon satisfactory completion of this class, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and training they need to be a safe and fun babysitter.
I am a certified instructor for the American Red Cross (ARC) Babysitting class. I taught this class for well over a decade, to hundreds of students. However, this Outschool class is not affiliated with the ARC in any way. The curriculum is my own.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In Session 3 we will cover – in a straightforward and factual way – what to do if the learner feels uncomfortable or threatened by the household's adult(s) or older siblings.
