In this beginning class in American Sign Language (ASL), students will learn all 26 letters in American Sign Language and start practicing with spelling words and their own names. Each letter will be modeled and learners will be given helpful clues for anything that seems difficult. Each letter will be shown visually, spoken, and modeled. We are working on learning an accurate sign. Participation is necessary and each learner is welcome to ask if they have questions or need something...
I am a retired teacher and my experience includes teaching 1st grade and students with Specific Learning Disabilities, interpreting for elementary and middle school Deaf students and teaching elementary and middle school Deaf students.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
