This 8-week flexible course will guide students through the steps necessary to learn the process of video editing by consuming small bits of information each week and then practicing what they have learned. Flexible schedule means that there are no live meetings, but students are still expected to complete assignments or projects by specific due dates and also to interact with each other in the online classroom. This class will work best when learners use a Windows or Mac computer. There IS an app version of this program but not all features discussed in class will be available in the mobile app version of the program. The teacher will be giving demonstrations on a Windows computer, but students that use a Mac computer should easily be able to transfer the info they have learned onto their device. Learners will be encouraged to download the FREE version of Wondershare Filmora on their devices. I will never request families to purchase something in order to attend class. However, families need to know that when using the free version, their finished product will have a watermark on their video. In order to not have a Filmora watermark on a video, you will need to purchase an annual subscription to this program. Using the free version is perfectly acceptable for this class and learner can share their weekly assignments having the watermark on their videos. This class is NOT about recording. I will not be able to assist learners in any sort of recording process. Learners need to have a recording ready to use so they can start the editing process the first week. Learners are welcome to use the same video to edit with all 8 weeks, or they are welcome use a different video each week. It’s up to them! —--------------------------------------------------------------- What this class will look like: 1. WATCH Each lesson, a short pre-recorded video tutorial will be provided for the learner to watch. These videos will build on each other every week and it is important to complete the weekly assignment before the following week's content comes out. 2. EDIT Students will practice using the editing techniques from the demonstration video. 3. SHARE Students will share their projects and progress in the online classroom. Teacher will be able to give feedback and answer questions throughout the 8 weeks of classes. —------------------------------------------------------------------------- Teacher has the right to remove or delete any video or clip that is deemed inappropriate. Please no recordings with violence, drug use, bad words, or any other adult content. Parents are expected to supervise their learner to ensure they do not share anything that might go against Outschool policy. I am looking forward to interacting with your learner!

Parental Guidance
This is not a class about YouTube, however, with this class being about video editing, some students may attend class already having a YouTube channel, or are wanting to have one in the future. YouTube is intended for age 13 and older, however, students younger than 13 are able to create a YouTube channel under the supervision of a parent.
Learners that might already have a YouTube channel are not to share their channel name or any links that could direct learners to their Youtube Channel. This is against Outschool's Privacy Policy.
-------------------------------------
Information about the video editing program used in this class:
Wondershare Filmora
This is an editing software that has the option to "try for free" when you download. Click the "try for free" button on the website's home page and create an account with an email and password. Direct link to access software is located in the welcome post once you have enrolled. I recommend just using this free version during class. If a learner and their family decides they want to use this program long-term, they will need to purchase an annual subscription due to the watermark on their finished video. I DO NOT require any software to be purchased in order to attend this class.
