Class Experience

Is your child new to Spanish? Would he/she like to have exposure to it? Then this class is perfect for him/her!
In this ongoing class, students will learn basic Spanish through a variety of engaging activities and will have fun interacting socially with the teacher and other students. The class will be held in a circle-time style, which is a structure that emphasizes fun, participation, and socialization. This class is designed for true beginners. This class is an A1 level based on the CEFR.

Every 2 weeks, we will focus on specific material. This will give students the opportunity to take their time learning and practice the material.

*Class schedule and content is subject to change in order to accommodate students' needs. This program runs once a week for 15 weeks but the classes DO NOT build on each other, so if you miss a class, you can jump right back in! The topics will cycle back to the beginning when completed.

For each class, I carefully select props and realia, and my puppet friends join the class to make it more fun.

I use a variety of methods, such as communicative method, gamification, etc.

I am an energetic, friendly, and patient teacher. No prior knowledge is required. We will learn together!

My classes are limited to five students so that each one will have an equal opportunity to practice and receive timely correction. I am a native Spanish speaker and an ELE (Spanish as a Foreign Language) certified teacher.

My Puppet friends (Pancho, Beto, Lucía, and Moño) and I can't wait to hear your child speak Spanish and have fun!

Parental Guidance
Parent involvement depends on the child’s learning habits and age. Kids ages four to six may need some support in the first few classes while they become familiar with Zoom and class activities. Older kids usually do well on their own; however, some supervision helps when they have difficulty focusing or if they are easily distracted.
Supply List
For each class, please have a whiteboard with dry erase markers or a notebook with markers.
Any specific materials needed for a class will be posted prior to the class.

¡Hola! My name is Profesora Mary, and I am excited to help your child learn Spanish.

I truly love working with children with my puppet friends: Pancho, Beto, Moño, and Lucía. Your child will love learning Spanish — at their pace — while playing games and singing songs with me and my friends. Your child will also have fun through my use of many props, including puffy animals, toys and more.

My ultimate goal when I teach is to make sure that my students obtain the skills to communicate in Spanish. I do this while making sure that my students have fun while learning. My class activities help students connect the learning material to their own world, facilitating language acquisition.

Teaching and learning languages are two of my passions. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to combine them and make them my profession. There is no other job that I could enjoy more, and I love to share my enthusiasm and energy with students in my classes.

I have worked very hard to be a qualified teacher, and I have achieved this through online and in-person teaching experience and by obtaining a number of certificates related to language instruction and teaching young learners. I am a certified ELE (Español como Lengua Extranjera - Spanish as a Foreign Language) Teacher and a native Spanish speaker.

I am a mom and some of my hobbies include learning languages, making crafts and playing the flute.

I look forward to helping your child learn!
