Class Experience

The teacher will guide students in singing tones! Students will also work on recognizing note names on the staff, simple sight-singing, and learning and memorizing songs to sing. Students may jump in at any time, as each class could be a standalone class. This would be a good class to take before private one on one lessons!

A few extra details about what to expect in class:
-No prior knowledge of singing necessary.
-The instructor will guide students in matching pitch.
-The instructor will teach students what notes on the staff look like, and then students will practice singing those notes (simple note drill and sight singing).
-The instructor will lead students in proper breathing technique & encourage good vowel shapes for singing.
-The instructor will teach basic ear training skills such as high vs low, steps vs skips which will make private one on one lessons more successful if students go that route in the future.
-The instructor will guide students in vocal warm ups
-The instructor will teach the students words for a new-to-student, short, always wholesome in lyric song, as well as the tune, and work up the song together! (The instructor expects that most students will not be familiar with the tunes until we learn them!)
- The instructor will be encouraging to students & will strive to make students excited about learning to sing!

Example songs:
 Week 1 “The Farmer” song
 Week 2 “The Broom” song
Week 3 “Summer Night” song
Week 4 “The Zoo” song

Hi!

I teach piano lessons, voice lessons, trumpet lessons, and general music lessons! I have taught private music lessons for 20 years now! Wow! Haha! I have my masters degree in piano performance/pedagogy from Bowling Green State University. I love to make music fun & I enjoy working with young children, middle grade & high school students to especially encourage them! Along with my in person students, I have taught a great deal of lessons online. I have three kids under the age of 5 so every day is a new adventure!! Hope to see you soon!
