🎶 Welcome to Our Fun, Flexible Recorder Class! 🎶 If your child is ready to start their musical journey, learning to play the recorder is a fantastic first step! This self-paced, 6-week class makes it easy, fun, and affordable for absolute beginners. With engaging lessons, interactive assignments, and personalized teacher feedback, your child will be making music in no time! 🌟 Why Choose the Recorder? Easy to Play: Unlike instruments like violin or flute, students can make a sound on the recorder right away, building confidence from the start. Affordable: A high-quality plastic recorder costs as little as $6 on Amazon (compared to instruments costing hundreds). Rewarding: Kids can play simple songs almost immediately, making it a motivating musical experience! ✅ What Makes This Class Unique? Self-Paced Learning: No live classes to attend—your child learns on their own schedule! Personalized Teacher Feedback: Submit weekly assignments and receive individualized feedback from me. Interactive, Hands-On Fun: Games, rhythm activities, and listening projects keep students engaged. Creativity and Exploration: Students will explore musical history, discover famous recorder pieces, and even learn about different types of recorders. Supportive Community: Students can comment on and support each other’s progress through Outschool’s platform. 🎓 What Your Child Will Learn Proper recorder technique: how to hold it, blow correctly, and use tonguing (articulation). Music fundamentals: learn how to read, write, and play music notes (like B, A, G, C, F, D, and E) and rhythms (quarter, half, dotted half, and whole notes). Musical exploration: discover famous recorder pieces, learn about professional players, and experience different styles of music. Performance skills: practice and play several simple, fun songs using the notes and rhythms learned in class. 🎤 Class Structure (6-Week Schedule) Weekly Breakdown 🎵 Week 1 (45 mins): Intro to different types of recorders How to hold the recorder, proper breathing, articulation Notes: B, A, G + "quarter note" rhythm Simple songs using B, A, G Assignments: Play assigned exercises, complete worksheets, and listening activities 🎵 Week 2 (40 mins): More songs with B, A, G Introduction to "half note" rhythm Practice songs with new notes and rhythms Assignments: Play assigned exercises, complete worksheets, and listening activities 🎵 Week 3 (45 mins): New notes: C, F Practice songs with B, A, G, C, F Learn about dotted half note and music terms Rhythm activities and music listening Assignments: Play assigned exercises, complete worksheets, and listening activities 🎵 Week 4 (1 hour): New notes: D, E Practice two new songs Rhythm games & note-reading activities Assignments: Play assigned exercises, complete worksheets, and listening activities 🎵 Week 5: More notes and rhythms Play a simple arrangement of 2 popular songs Assignments: Play assigned exercises, complete worksheets, and listening activities 🎵 Week 6: No new video lesson this week Extra time to review all material, catch up on assignments, and ask questions 🎹 Teaching Style My teaching style is warm, patient, and encouraging.
