Class Experience

In this class we will work together to continue learning how to play the piano! Students should have some piano knowledge before taking this class. (Quarter note, half note, whole note, familiar with right hand notes C, D, E, F, and G, left hand notes C and G). Students will be required to purchase Piano Pronto Prelude book by Jennifer Eklund, and they will need a piano or keyboard to practice with!

We will be moving at a fairly quick pace, and students will be playing with 2 hands, favorite songs like Down in the Valley, Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Skip to my Lou, and Morning Theme, and Oh, Susannah with beautiful left hand harmonies and quite a few 3-note chords by the end of these 8 weeks! Students will be learning how to read their notes on the music staff! We will work on sight reading music examples. We will be learning about eighth notes in this course! Students will learn proper beats and counting, along with hand technique & proper hand positioning for playing. In this class we will be focusing on notes B, C, D,E, F, G, and A for the right hand, as well as B, C, D, E, F, G, and A in the left hand! Students will be learning about dotted quarter notes, dotted half notes, eighth notes, fingering rules and changes, ties and slurs, and additional dynamic markings!

The teacher is passionate about making learning the piano accessible to all learners. The teacher strives to help the student feel confident like they can do it! The teacher aims to encourage students greatly.

If students have done lessons for a while but are feeling discouraged, this would be a great class to take to help build their confidence. If students know many notes but have not worked much with hands together yet, or has difficulty doing hands together, this would be a great class!

If students are brand new to piano, try my other class, “Beginner’s Piano Class - Piano Pronto (Level 1) first! (Or level 2 if somewhere in between).

After this class, students will be ready for my prelude part 5 class!
