I am a mother and a grandmother with more than seventeen years of teaching experience, first at the college level and now online to ESL students and here on Outschool. I have experience teaching both seated and online classes. I have a BA and an MA in English from North Carolina State University, along with a TOEFL certification from VIPKid in China, and I love teaching my little learners!
Homework is optional, but strongly recommended. I will provide topic-related handouts through the classroom for in-class exercises/ post-class review.
Students may bring a pencil and paper or a small whiteboard and marker to class, but they are not required to do so. I request that they bring something to share at the beginning of class. No other apps or websites are required; HOWEVER, you may want to have a way to print out handouts for class activities if you want your child to participate in those. Please check the classroom in between classes for attachments in the announcements section. Thank you!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment is provided through the classroom at the end of the course. However, please feel free to ask for specific or general feedback at any time during the course. Students who complete the course receive a certificate at the end of the class.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
