Class Experience
In this Encanto Spanish class PART 2, students will continue to learn Spanish vocabulary words while learning about the culture and products of Colombia through discussing the popular movie Encanto. I use Google Slides to teach this unit. I teach with a focus on Comprehensible Input and not grammar since that is not how language is naturally acquired. Spanish Encanto class is designed for beginner level with no previous knowledge or exposure to Spanish. My Encanto part 1 of Spanish is a great class to take before part 2 but not necessary.

Students will learn Spanish while discussing and viewing parts of the Disney film Encanto. Students will continue top practice colors, numbers, calendar, weather. Students will learn how to say their age and birthday. Students will also learn ways to describe themselves and the Madrigal family. Students will learn how to create sentences about foods that they like or dislike and will examine different food from Colombia. Students will also learn the different rooms in the house and discuss Antonio´s gift party celebration. Students will learn a little about the history, music and dance from the Colombian culture.

The focus will be on developing skills in the areas of listening, speaking and reading. Short comprehensible conversations and games/activities will be used to expose students to the target language. This is not a full immersion class, since it is designed for beginners. This means that I will not speak 100% Spanish in these lessons. I will give instructions and explanations in English, for the benefit of your child. However, most of the class will be in Spanish.
Please note that it is important for your child to be willing to repeat the Spanish words during class, and practice saying them with me in the lessons.
