Class experience
Beginner's Guide to Japanese (BGJ) will take students through all the basics and essentials of speaking and writing Japanese! No previous knowledge is required. ***ABOUT*** This course will be broken up into ten sessions over the course of ten weeks that build off of each other, so it is important to not miss class, or to watch the lesson recordings and catch up if you do. BGJ is unique because it focuses on teaching students structures and patterns, rather than just having them memorize...
Students will be able to write all 46 hiragana, make simple sentences, ask questions, and name and describe objects and places in Japanese.
I have been speaking Japanese for about half a decade and possess a minor degree in the subject.
Homework Offered
Practice makes perfect, so there will be homework after almost every single session. Each homework assignment should take 15-30 minutes. - For the first five weeks, homework will be to write each hiragana symbol covered in class a number of times. - The next four sessions will be translation and grammar assignments. Homework will also include learning about twenty vocabulary words per week, and practicing the concepts learned in class. Thus, I expect students to spend AT LEAST an additional hour outside of class practicing Japanese.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
