Bienvenue and welcome! Arguably the most important verbs in French are "Avoir" and "Être". Not only are these two of the most commonly used verbs, they are important for forming compound verb tenses and several verb phrases. Verb conjugation can be one of the most difficult parts of learning a new language, so developing a strong foundation with these two verbs will help your learner get a solid start in French and build their confidence. In this class, we will practice conjugating these two verbs in the simple present tense and using them in common verb phrases. The first class will focus on the verb Être (to be), the second class will focus on Avoir (to have), and the third class will be a Review Game. This class is taught through Google Slides, Digital Games, and Verbal interaction. The language of instruction is English, but I will encourage your learner to speak as much French as possible. This class is ideal for learners with a basic foundation in French. Learners should know French pronouns and basic adjectives or be comfortable learning basic vocabulary as we learn each phrase. Learners should also understand or be old enough to understand verb conjugation. I will provide vocabulary handouts before class for review so that learners can be comfortable applying what they've studied in class.
Learning Goals
Students will gain understanding of verb conjugation for two irregular verbs, être and avoir. Students will learn and practice several phrases and idioms using these verbs.
