I am a qualified teacher with more than 15 years' experience introducing young learners to the language and history of the ancient world. I have trained in Philosophy for Children as well as Dyslexia and Foreign Language Teaching.
Homework will consist of both revision and writing tasks.
Students will need pen and paper, and any supplies they want to use if they want to produce artwork or cook something as part of their homework -there will be plenty of flexibility with the projects. Students will be directed to work with the Basil Batrakhos course outside of the lesson. The course is available both as a free website and as a quality book to purchase from the creator.
I will assess the progress weekly by observing their performance in class. There will be self-assessed mini-tests.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Some of the myths or aspects of Greek life depict violent attitudes and customs that are no longer acceptable. Parents can look at the materials ahead of the course to decide if it is suitable for them.
In addition to tailor-made materials, we will use the Basil Batrakhos course kindly provided online by Classics for All. This course is freely available online and parents and students can access it at any time here: https://basilbatrakhos.com/ The students will need to download and print the book from the webiste (this is free of cost) or buy it from the provider (£10)
