Class Experience

In this 14 week course, we will be creating a crochet blanket that uses many different crochet stitches. I will take learners step-by-step through the 2020 Scrapghan pattern by Breann.

Students will learn how to crochet slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, and treble crochet and how to combine these stitches to make more complex designs. Students will also learn how to read and use a pattern.

Week 1: Part 1 of the blanket will be completed. We'll be working on double crochet and learning how to count stitches in a pattern. Will also learn spike stitches.
Week 2: Part 2 of blanket. Will be working with puff stitches.
Week 3: Part 3 of blanket. Will learn how to do the herringbone crochet stitch.
Week 4: Part 4 of blanket. Will learn bead stitch and how to crochet around posts.
Week 5: Part 5 of blanket. Lemon peel stitch. Working with single and double crochet.
Week 6: Part 6 of blanket.
Week 7: Part 7 of blanket. Will learn how to use stitches and chains to create butterfly stitch.
Week 8: Part 8 of blanket. Will learn waffle stitch.
Week 9: Part 9 of blanket. Will learn extended single crochet.
Week 10: Part 10 of blanket: Will learn Celtic Weave using treble crochet and crocheting around posts.
Week 11: Part 11 of blanket. Will learn half double crochet.
Week 12: Part 12 of blanket. Will learn cluster stitch.
Week 13: Part 13 of blanket. Will learn slip stitch.
Week 14: Finish up blanket. Talk about care for blanket and answer any questions.

Students will be expected to come to class each week, ready to go onto the next section. We will talk in the first week about how to choose a good size for the student, so that completing ~10 rows a week is not overwhelming. Work will be done on the blanket both in class, and at home between lessons.

Students should already know how to do a slip knot, chain stitch and single crochet. If the student does not know these, please take my one-time Crochet Basics: An Introduction class first, where these things will be taught.

Learning Goals
