Intermediate Level
In this 4-day camp, students will use problem-solving skills to untangle hair and adjust their braids. Fine motor skills, creativity, patience, perseverance, attention to detail, spatial awareness, cultural appreciation, self-expression, and time-management. Class Schedule: 1. The first day of class, I will go over cornrows and single braids without added hair extensions. Students can participate to show their skill level. I usually go over cornrows during the 1st class as most students grasp single braids quickly. 2. The second class the students will participate and practice more cornrow braiding skills from the previous class using a mannequin, or sibling. We will also go over knotless box braids. 3. The third class, I will demonstrate braids with extensions. Students should come to class and participate using a mannequin or a sibling. 4. On the last day, students will have a final review day of all the techniques they’ve learned from Day 1, 2, and 3. Students will also demonstrate their new skills on their mannequins. Please note: Students can come at any skill level however if students are already skilled in braiding then this class will be slow for them. This class is geared towards beginning braiders. If you're interested in learning to braid for the first time then please join in and practice learning this unique skill
Learning Goals
Students will learn a life skill that can be used on themselves, friends, family members, and possibly clients. This technique will help them to improve their hand coordination, braiding, and parting skills.
