Amelia Bedelia is known for taking things quite literally and that always leads to an adventure! Learners at this age are capable of discussing books that may be above their independent reading level. My job is to share the story and facilitate a discussion among learners. The book club is limited to 6 learners, so that they have an opportunity to share their thoughts and interact with me and other learners. Students are not required to have access to the books we are reading (print or digital). Every week, we will read and discuss different book from the series started by Peggy Parish and continued by Herman Parish. We will discuss character traits, plot, and theme. Writing will be included as we complete notes and graphic organizers together. We will compare and contrast the books as well. Weeks 1 and 2: Amelia Bedelia, Weeks 3 and 4: Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia!, Weeks 5 and 6: Amelia Bedelia and the Cat (Books can be changed based on student interest and what books learners have available to them.) Great book club for beginners!
Learning Goals
Students will improve comprehension strategies, listening and speaking skills, identify themes and character traits and make connections between stories. Hopefully, they will develop a love of reading along the way!

Supply List
Learners will need something to write with. Writing templates will be provided, but if you do not have access to a printer, regular paper will be fine. Students are not required to have access to the books that we will be reading.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
