In this class, we will make a heart-shaped zipper pouch from scratch! Learners will learn about using a simple pattern, installing a zipper, and creating items using exterior and lining fabric. This beginner course is perfect for learners who are comfortable sewing simple things (scrunchie, pillowcase, or similar), and is perfect for a more intermediate or advanced learner looking to grow their skill set by learning how to install a zipper. For class, learners will need: -Sewing machine and basic sewing supplies -2 coordinating fat quarters (please use different fabrics so we can determine which fabric is the lining, and which is the exterior) -Zipper in a coordinating color -Pattern printed prior to class (link to pattern provided in the classroom)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Whitney and I am so excited to have the opportunity to share my expertise with you! I have a Bachelors degree from Florida State University, and I have over 10 years of teaching experience. I have taught formally in a preschool classroom, and I currently teach ESL online. I have also taught horseback riding, rowing, canning, Sunday school, and I look forward to sharing my classroom with you!
I believe that learning should be FUN! Some times a bit messy, maybe a bit silly, but always full of smiles and laughter. I believe that we remember what we learn best when we remember the experience as a positive one. I also believe that life can be one of the greatest educators. I love to bring real life examples into my classes.
When I am not spending with my family and dogs, I enjoy teaching sewing classes, budgeting classes, science, English, art, and having a fun and educational story time for young learners. Often times, I will bring my dogs to class as teaching tools!
Thank you for viewing my profile, and I hope to see you in class soon!
