Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner Level
This beginner yoga class begins with a moment to settle in, tune in, and breathe. It then progresses into gentle and functional movements designed to open and warm the body, building self awareness, strength and flexibility. Each class ends with a short meditation aimed to de-stress the body and mind, and encourage relaxation.

This class is taught with compassion and kindness. Students are encouraged to do just what they can. Modifications and variations of poses are presented as needed.

Learning Goals

Through gentle movement, breathing exercises, and mindfulness, students will learn to manage stress, improve focus, and develop healthy habits.
Students will learn various yoga poses and their benefits for the body and mind, and how to apply this knowledge to everyday life and its challenges.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
- Students should have adequate space around them to extend arms and legs fully in each direction. - Bare feet is preferred, but socks are acceptable. - Students will be asked to do poses such as forward folds and straddle stretches, so clothing that will NOT indecently expose their body in such poses is required. For example, baggy shirts can fall over the head in a forward fold, exposing the belly and chest area. - Access to water as needed. - A chair is helpful to hang onto if balance is an issue. - Injury can occur if the student is not listening to instructions, rushing the movements and/or forcing their body beyond its natural range of motion.
Pre-Requisites
Students should have a quiet space to practice in, free of major distractions. Having a yoga mat, strap, blanket and blocks is ideal, but not required.
Supply List
1 -2 Yoga mats
1 Yoga strap (scarf, belt, or hand towel is also acceptable)
1-2 Yoga blocks (not required, but very helpful)
1-2 Yoga blankets (large beach towel or similar blanket is acceptable)
