Students will learn or revisit the basics of the violin - the parts of the instrument, how to hold the violin with good posture, develop strong technique. I will also teach rudimentary music theory as we go along. The goal of the class is to get students comfortable with and confident in playing the instrument! I tailor my classes to each student's individual needs and repertoire goals - the violin is a difficult instrument to learn, and it is natural for each student to go at their own pace....
Students are expected to practice ~15 minutes each day on their own to develop the skills we learn in class. I will give instructions on how and what to practice in each class.
Students will need a violin + bow, shoulder rest (or elastic band with a sponge), rosin, and an electronic tuner.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
