Join me for a well-structured beginner ongoing violin class designed for all violin beginner players ages 7-18. We will learn important musical concepts such as note reading on all 4 strings, exploring different types of scales while stepping deeper into the music theory; as well as perfecting our tuning skills while playing in different bowing styles, rhythms, mastering the core of violin technique. * Students are not expected to have any music background before taking this class COURSE CONTENT AND TOPICS COVERED: 1. Proper Violin Posture 2. Beginner Music Theory (note reading, musical signs, key signatures and rhythms, etc.) 3. Left Hand Positioning on D, A, G, and E Strings 4. Major Scales (D, A, G, and C Major Scales) 5. Improving Bow Arm Technique While Playing Different Bowing Styles (Staccato, Hooked Bowing, Ties, and Slurs) 7. Rhythm Builder Exercises (Tas, Ti-Tis, Rests, Half and Quarter Notes, Dotted Half Notes) 8. Bowing with Dynamics 9. Performance Songs and Repertoire (Familiar Violin Songs and Classical Tunes) MATERIALS REQUIRED: a) Violin of proper size with FINGER MARKINGS !!! b) Rosin for the bow c) Violin Tuner (battery or a free APP on your phone) !!! d) Essential Elements for Strings Violin Book 1 CLASS ROUTINE: > Slides and videos with large pictures and examples are often used to increase learner's comprehension, attention and understanding of the newly material learned > Violin exercises from the Essential Elements for Strings Violin Book 1 are used for further practice and homework > Performance pieces and examinations are given with essential beginner violin songs such as Twinkle, Twinkle, Jingle Bells and the Birthday Song as well as classical beginner violin tunes such as Ode to Joy, Minuet No.1, William Tell Overture and much more! ** Any topics are open for a discussion, review, or more practice. If there's something you wish to work on that is not listed above, let me know in the description! Parental Guidance
Parents are advised to help beginner players ages 6-12 prepare for their lesson, tune their violin and rosin their bow until they can do it themselves with confidence.
