Ukulele lessons with a flexible schedule for young students who are new to the instrument. Learners must have completed Uke Can Do It: Ukulele Lessons for Young Beginners Part 1 or have prior experience learning the ukulele, playing the C and F chords, and switching between chords to enroll in this course. Week 1: Review the C and F chords, learn how to play and sing "The Eensy Weensy Spider" Week 2: Review the F chord, learn the C7 chord, learn how to play and sing "The Hokey Pokey" Week 3:...
Students will learn and review the basics of ukulele including how to hold the instrument, playing position and rest position, how to strum, proper hand and finger position, simple chords, how to count and play chord patterns, and how to play multiple popular children's songs. They will also improve their rhythm, counting skills, and pattern recognition.
I have been teaching for 19 years, I have a passion for music and love to teach it to beginning students. Music opens so many possibilities and Ukuleles are an easy instrument to learn. You can learn something one day and be able to play it right away. I teach PreK-5th grade general music and art, This including learning pitched and non pitched instruments, music history, movement, and ukulele.
Each week learners will watch video lessons to learn new technique, chords, and songs. They will receive songs sheets and videos to practice along with. It is recommended that students practice the material learned 10 minutes a day or more, 5 days a week. Learners will be required to submit a video each week demonstrating the technique, chords, and/or songs learned.
1 file available upon enrollmentI will provide the information and chord finger positions and all they need is a ukulele and the willingness to learn something new every day. There are many free apps that you can download to help tune your ukulele. I use Ukulele Tuner app and you can use this to tune the ukulele before class.
Visually I will assess the proper way to hold the ukulele, strumming fingers, and correct hand positions for chords.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
