2-4 hours per week. The students will be asked to practice 15 minutes a day, twice a day for 5 days a week. They will be given PDF files to work with and instruction on the best way to develop their practice habits and care for their instrument.Assessment
The class will be conducted using modeling, the teacher models the correct way to approach the material being taught, the student then joins the teach in the material being taught, the student then demonstrates their understanding of the material being taught. The teacher will assess each student's performance and understanding the material and make suggestions for any corrections that need to be made.Class Experience

Beginner Level
Preface: This will be a 5 week course that is designed for the beginner trumpet student so that he/she will be proficient in the following areas: • Assembling and disassembling their instrument properly. • Proper posture, breath support and embouchure (the shape of the mouth when playing). • Playing popular songs for concert band. • Reading music and recognizing notes on the staff, time signatures, dynamic markings, repeat signs, note values and more! The styles of music that will be covered in this curriculum will include all genres of: • Popular Concert Band Songs • Holiday Songs • Movie Themes The concepts that will be covered are: • Theory • Technique • Repertoire Some of the songs that we will work with may include but are not limited to: • Hot Crossed Buns • Ode to Joy • Star Wars Theme All songs, exercises and scores will be accompanied by PDF files.
Learning Goals
Learning Goal 1: The student will learn about playing music through Audiation (Hearing the music in time in your head) before Sight reading.
Learning Goal 2: The student will develop a basic level of music proficiency that can translate to beginner band, playing with others or continuing to develop on their own.

• Playing your next 3 notes: D, E, and F
• Playing your first song: Hot Crossed Buns

Extending your range on the Instrument up to High C and playing your second song

Learns do not need any prior experience in music or trumpet playing to take this course.

I have been performing, teaching, composing, and writing music for the past 30 years. Currently I teach band, choir, guitar and percussion from the 4th grade to the HS level. My education ranges from the following:
