The class will often be structured like this (or contain these elements): 1) Review - I want to see something that the student has been working on! It could be a piece we are working on together, or something they have learned for fun. This gives me a great idea of what areas we should focus on. If the student is a beginner, I would love hear about their relationship to music, and the artists that they love! 2) Warm up exercise - This will often pertain to familiarity with their instrument! This could be anything from scales, to picking patterns, to finding various notes on their guitar. 3) Theory - We will often spend some time covering a theory concept, or using a concept we have already discussed to analyze a piece. The focus here is on concepts which I wholeheartedly believe make you a better player. I want to equipped students with, not only guitar knowledge, but musicianship. 4) Learn a song!! - Whether it is a song of the student's choice, or of my choice, we will learn a song (continue progress on a song).

I have a Bachelors of Music from Humber College. I have been playing for 17+ years, and teaching music for 5+ years. In this time, I have taught students of a wide variety of ages and abilities. I have worked a lot with young kids, who are learning an instrument for the first time.
