There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, it is highly suggested that families encourage their children to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Practicing outside of class will give students the opportunity to relate the class material to their own life and environment which will help cement the new language in their brains. Occasionally additional activities for children to do outside of class will be posted in the classroom dashboard. These are optional but highly encouraged!

🌟Teaching Approach
1) Our number one priority is making your student feel welcome and included. We understand that when students feel comfortable they are more open to learning new things.

2) Vocabulary in this course is learned through exaggerated facial expressions, TPR (total physical response), pictures, games, and props to help your child make associations between new words and their meaning.

3) Teachers speak slowly and clearly and model sentence frames and vocabulary for students. After modeling the sentence frames the students and teacher will practice them in a call and response manner.

4) Class activities include a mix of speaking, listening and writing/drawing activities. Teachers may utilize Nearpod (https://nearpod.com/) in class presentations so that students can demonstrate their understanding in a nonverbal manner by drawing on presentation slides.

6) This course is designed to give students repeat exposure to the target vocabulary and sentence frames so they have plenty of opportunities to practice and master the lesson objectives.

Our teachers are so excited to share their love of the Spanish language with your students through fun and interactive activities!

On select slides, students will be able to draw and complete activities. They can submit their work to the teacher so they can gauge their progress and understanding of the class objectives.
Supply List
In this course, students will need minimal supplies. Information for this class will be presented via Nearpod presentations (a link will be sent to participants via the chatbox and the classroom dashboard). No account is necessary to access this online tool. Upon enrollment you will receive a step-by-step document explaining how to use this tool. In the event you prefer not to use this tool the teacher will screen share activities with the students and provide worksheets that can be printed. Depending on how quickly the students go through the material we may have time to do additional exercises to practice the vocabulary. Hello! We are the Babbling Brook Language School; THE place for young learners to get introduced to a new language. We are a passionate group of teachers who have created an online classroom environment where students feel empowered to learn, grow and develop their language skills.

We aim to make our classes as engaging, inclusive, and collaborative as possible because we believe that when students actively engage in the learning process they not only have more fun but also learn better. We look forward to sharing our passion for language learning and empowering your child to use their voices and communicate their thoughts and ideas!

OUR TEACHING METHODS & PHILOSOPHY:

Our organization has achieved Outschool's ACE educator status. You can learn more here https://teach.outschool.com/ace-framework/#:~:text=ACE%20Educator%20learning%20opportunities&text=You%20are%20never%20required%20to,participate%20in%20more%20than%20one). Our courses are designed to give students repeat exposure to the target vocabulary, sentence frames, and grammar concepts so they have plenty of opportunities to practice and master the lesson objectives. Class sizes are small so that every child in attendance has plenty of opportunities to practice the new vocabulary and build their confidence in a small class environment. We value communication over perfection because we understand that the more comfortable someone feels the more they will be inspired to speak. We correct students in a thoughtful way that encourages them to continue learning and avoid becoming discouraged. Learning any new language takes time and practice and with repeat exposure and encouragement, we know they will see success! We use a variety of tools and methods to help your child learn a new language including exaggerated facial expressions, TPR (total physical response), pictures, games, and props. Teachers are patient and speak slowly and clearly to model sentence frames, proper pronunciation and vocabulary for students. In addition to speaking/verbal activities, some classes will utilize online tools that allow students to demonstrate their understanding in a nonverbal manner by drawing on the presentation slides or completing interactive activities. We cannot wait to meet your child in class soon!
