Description
Class Experience
In this fun and interactive class, students will review, practice, and learn new words in Spanish that they can attribute to their surroundings. Each week we explore a new theme (animals, colors, descriptor words etc.) and students are challenged to find items that go along with our theme around their homes. We will complete scavenger hunts, and worksheets, play Pictionary, and have a show and tell time so students can share what they've found that goes along with the theme of the week....
Students will learn and practice how to describe objects around their home using colors, numbers, and a variety of adjectives. Students will gain confidence using the sentence frames- "Es un/a- It is a...." and "Son....- They are...". Students will gain an understanding of when they must add "s" or "es" to the end of a noun or adjective to make it plural. The goal of this class is for your child to have a fun introduction to the Spanish language and become comfortable using simple words, phrases, and adjectives to describe their surroundings in Spanish. Relating new words and vocabulary to one's daily life is an invaluable way to practice and better retain new information. We hope to see your child in class soon!
In this course, students will need minimal supplies. Any worksheets will be posted in the classroom portal before class starts. Please let us know if you do not have access to a printer and we can make accommodations. In case we finish with our activities early students should come to class with paper, a pencil, and something to color with. We will use these supplies during the class to play Pictionary and other drawing games. Some weeks your child can bring their stuffed animals or other items to the class that go along with our week's theme. Reminders of materials will be posted in the classroom portal so families are alerted before class of any supplies needed.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
During some weeks of this course, the lesson will include a Canva or Google Doc presentation. Students do not have direct access to Canva or Google Docs. The teacher will share their screen with students.
