✨️ Get your first class free by using coupon code SPANISHSPARK15 at checkout. ✨️ Students ages 6-10 will have a blast learning beginner vocabulary and sentence structure in Spanish! As an ongoing class, meeting one time per week, concepts will be taught through repetition, practice conversations, interactive slides, video clips, games, and hands on activities. Each student will be able to repeat vocabulary covered to ensure proper pronunciation and understanding. Each class will introduce a new basic topic in Spanish and can be a stand alone class. Learners may come and go as their schedule allows, as long as there are available spaces upon enrollment. Classes will cycle every 10 weeks, so feel free to join at any point! This class is Part 1 of a 3 part series (classes in this series can be taken in any order). Printables and resources will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of each week. Optional homework and extra practice are available. No prior Spanish knowledge is necessary. The engaging curriculum is tailored to fit the needs of the elementary beginner Spanish student. Vocabulary and sentence structure presented is both practical and useful for real world conversations. The small group class setting fosters a positive, encouraging, and collaborative learning environment. Our content promotes cultural awareness and appreciation. Let's learn together! 🌎 📚 Classes follow the following format: ✏️ Pregunta del día (Question of the Day): 5-10 minute icebreaker to get students listening and responding in simple Spanish, all while getting to know one another. ✏️ Vocabulary and Grammar Instruction: 15-20 minute topical lesson, presented through interactive slides and fun visuals. ✏️ Game or Hands-on Activity: 15-20 minute game, worksheet, or activity to reinforce and apply newly learned concepts in a collaborative, positive environment. Week 1: (October 28-November 1 and December 9-13) Greetings and Introductions 👋 This week we will learn how to greet others (hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, goodbye) and introduce ourselves (My name is _____., What is your name?, Nice to meet you.) in Spanish. Students will have practice conversations, jam to a greetings song, and get to know each other with an "All About Me" worksheet. Week 2: (November 4-8 and December 16-20) Colors 🎨 Let's explore the colorful world around us! This week we will focus on learning the colors in Spanish through question and answer, an "I spy" (Matamoscas Flyswatter) color game, and colorful fishbowl activity. We will also learn to say, "What is your favorite color?", "My favorite color is _______." Week 3: (November 11-15 and December 30-January 3) Numbers 🔢 Let's count to 10! This week's lesson will center on learning numbers 1-10 in Spanish. We will watch a video clip, complete a number matching worksheet, and play "Number Bingo." We will also introduce, "How old are you?", "I am _____ years old." Week 4: (November 18-22 and January 6-10) Body Parts 👣 In this week's lesson, we will learn the basic body parts (head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, arms, legs, feet, hands, etc) in Spanish through a funny game (Head, Shoulders, Knees, Cup!), silly monster matching worksheet, and directed drawing activity. Week 5: (December 2-6 and January 13-17) Foods 🍓 This week we will learn vocabulary related to foods (milk, bread, cheese, apple, strawberry, carrots, chicken, fish, rice, ice cream, etc) in Spanish. We will discuss the three daily meals and learn to express what foods we like or don't like (Me gusta/No me gusta). Learners will interact with a funny video clip showing ridiculous food combinations and play "Foods Bingo." Week 6: (December 9-13 and January 20-24) Emotions and Feelings 🤪 This week we will focus on vocabulary and sentence structure related to feelings and emotions in Spanish through practice conversations, read aloud book, and a fun, hands-on "Emoji Booklet" activity! We will learn to say, "How are you?", "I am ______." (good, bad, scared, excited, happy, sad, nervous, etc) Week 7: (December 16-20 and January 27-31) Days of the Week/Months/Seasons 📆 This week's lesson will center on the days of the week, months, and seasons in Spanish. Students will learn a days of the week song, discuss the months and seasons with some silly visual aids, and complete a "Create Your Own Calendar" activity! We will also introduce, "Today is ____." (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Week 8: (December 30-January 3 and February 3-7) Family 👩👦 In this week's lesson, we will learn various names of family members (mom/dad, grandma/grandpa, brother/sister, aunt/uncle, etc) in Spanish. Learners will use their acquired knowledge to play a "Guess Who?" game show and complete a "Family Tree" activity. Week 9: (January 6-10 and February 10-14) Weather 🌦 This week we will learn to ask, "How is the weather today?" as well as many weather related vocabulary words and phrases such as, "It is hot.", "It is cold.", "The weather is _____." (sunny, rainy, windy, stormy, snowy, etc) Concepts will be taught through video clip, demo weather forecast, and interactive weather board game! Week 10: (January 13-17 and February 17-21) Transportation 🚛 In our last week's lesson, we will focus on vocabulary and sentence structure related to transportation in Spanish. We will sort modes of transportation by land, air, and sea. Students will learn to ask, "How do you get to school?" and respond with, "I go by _____." (car, bus, train, bike, etc) Finally, learners will get creative with a "Design Your Own Vehicle" activity.

Students will learn vocabulary and sentence structure related to basic concepts in the target language, while building confidence in their listening, reading, and speaking abilities.

Supply List
Hands on activities and/or vocabulary lists will be available to print prior to classes. I will post all resources needed in the classroom at the beginning of the week. You will need a pencil, something to color with (crayons, markers, etc), scissors, a glue stick, and something to use as bingo markers.

I hold my bachelor's degree in Spanish and have taken numerous education courses. I am an ELE (teaching Spanish as a foreign language) certified teacher. I have had the opportunity to experience the cultures of various Spanish speaking countries. While living abroad in Costa Rica, I completed advanced coursework in grammar, literature, composition, and conversation. Before staying home to raise my own children, I taught high school Spanish I, II, and III. I pride myself on making content interactive and engaging, so that students retain the material and desire to learn more!
