✨️ Join us at anytime! No experience necessary. ✨️ Students ages 7-10 will have a blast learning beginner vocabulary and conversational Spanish! As an ongoing class, meeting one time per week, concepts will be taught through repetition, practice conversations, interactive slides, video clips, games, and hands-on activities. For elementary students, learning Spanish is more than just acquiring a new skill—it's an adventure that opens doors to new cultures, perspectives, and opportunities. My approach to teaching Spanish is designed to be engaging, interactive, and tailored to the developmental needs of young learners. In my classroom, we begin interacting in the target language right away, gradually increasing the student's confidence through listening, speaking, reading, and writing exercises. Each student will be able to repeat vocabulary covered to ensure proper pronunciation and understanding. Each class will introduce a new beginner topic in Spanish and can be a stand alone class. Learners may come and go as their schedule allows, as long as there are available spaces upon enrollment. Classes will cycle every 10 weeks, so feel free to join at any point! This class is Part 1 of a 3 part series (classes in this series can be taken in any order). Printables and resources will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of each week. Optional homework and extra practice are available. No prior Spanish knowledge is necessary. The engaging curriculum is designed to fit the needs of the elementary beginner Spanish student. Vocabulary and sentence structure presented is both practical and useful for real world conversations. The small group class setting fosters a positive, encouraging, and collaborative learning environment. Our content promotes cultural awareness and appreciation. Give your child the foundation necessary to be a successful second language learner ¡Aprendamos juntos! Let's learn together! 🌎 📚 Classes follow the following format: ✏️ Pregunta del día (Question of the Day): 5-10 minute icebreaker to get students listening and responding in simple Spanish, all while getting to know one another. ✏️ Vocabulary and Grammar Instruction: 15-20 minute topical lesson, presented through interactive slides and fun visuals. ✏️ Game or Hands-on Activity: 15-20 minute game, worksheet, or activity to reinforce and apply newly learned concepts in a collaborative, positive environment. Week 1: (April 7-11) Greetings and Introductions 👋 This week we will learn how to greet others (hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, goodbye) and introduce ourselves (My name is _____., What is your name?, Nice to meet you.) in Spanish. Students will have practice conversations, jam to a greetings song, and get to know each other with an "All About Me" worksheet. Week 2: (April 14-18) Colors 🎨 Let's explore the colorful world around us! This week we will focus on learning the colors in Spanish through question and answer, an "I spy" (Matamoscas Flyswatter) color game, and colorful fishbowl activity. We will also learn to say, "What is your favorite color?", "My favorite color is _______." Week 3: (April 21-25) Numbers 🔢 Let's count to 10! This week's lesson will center on learning numbers 1-10 in Spanish. We will watch a video clip, complete a number matching worksheet, and play "Number Bingo." We will also introduce, "How old are you?", "I am _____ years old." Week 4: (April 28-May 2) Body Parts 👣 In this week's lesson, we will learn the basic body parts (head, eyes, nose, mouth, ears, arms, legs, feet, hands, etc) in Spanish through a funny game (Head, Shoulders, Knees, Cup!), silly monster matching worksheet, and directed drawing activity. Week 5: (May 5-9) Foods 🍓 This week we will learn vocabulary related to foods (milk, bread, cheese, apple, strawberry, carrots, chicken, fish, rice, ice cream, etc) in Spanish. We will discuss the three daily meals and learn to express what foods we like or don't like (Me gusta/No me gusta). Learners will interact with a funny video clip showing ridiculous food combinations and play "Foods Bingo." Week 6: (May 12-16) Emotions and Feelings 🤪 This week we will focus on vocabulary and sentence structure related to feelings and emotions in Spanish through practice conversations, read aloud book, and a fun, hands-on "Emoji Booklet" activity! We will learn to say, "How are you?", "I am ______." (good, bad, scared, excited, happy, sad, nervous, etc) Week 7: (May 19-23) Days of the Week/Months/Seasons 📆 This week's lesson will center on the days of the week, months, and seasons in Spanish.
