In the MovieTalk story shown on video/screenshot, Wildebeest (on lesson 6), there is a part that insinuates that one of the wildebeests has been eaten by a crocodile (similar to the story of the gingerbread man who gets eaten by the fox when he lands on his back). Synopsis: There are 2 wildbeests by the river, they see a strange still object floating, one suggests it is a crocodile, the other suggests it is a log. One of them stands on the log and gets eaten by the crocodile. This is the video shown in class on lesson 6, please preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMJXvsCLu6s Name: Wildebeest from birdbox studio

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!

My name is Maria and I am a lifelong learner!
I have 10 years of experience working at many different public schools with grades Kindergarten to Grade 12.

My experience includes working in main stream classrooms, small groups, and one on one Teaching Assistant developing individual education plans modified to each students' needs and academic goals in the classroom.

My passion is teaching and tutoring, and Outschool is a great opportunity for me to teach online from home allowing me to continue doing what I love most!

My educational approach consists of the philosophy that children learn at their own pace in what interests them the most, making the students more engaged in their path to learning.
My teaching strengths are mostly in Science, Math, English (ELA and ESL), and Spanish Immersion.

Being bilingual allows me the opportunity to teach proficiently in both English and Spanish for young learners.
I am a native Spanish speaker.

As a visual learner, I like to include a lot of images, media, and videos in my teaching method, with the use of Powerpoint, YouTube, and using a variety of external resources and curriculums that are best suited for the classroom.
In my classroom I like to include games as well so that learning can be fun and engaging!

My teaching strategies are interactive to ensure opportunities for participation for all students in the form of a presentation, discussions, Q&A, and feedback at the end of class.

I have extensive education and experience and training in crisis intervention and conflict resolution for over 10 years in the field of Social Work.
I am also TESOL certified since December 2019

Fun Facts:
I am a mom of 4!
Uruguay is my country of birth, I was raised in Port Chester NY, and I now live in Ontario, Canada.
As a family, we enjoy outdoor activities, exploring new places, meeting new people, and spending quality time together living and learning through life!

I look forward to welcoming students into my online classroom; a safe, interactive, and fun space for learning and growing!
