I expect students to practice what they learn in class between sessions. I recommend flash cards and will provide class materials on the Outschool classroom for student and parent reference.Class Experience
This is a level one Spanish class for beginners. This class goes through several units of vocabulary and grammar in Spanish. Topics and dates are listed below. Your student can join anytime, but just know that we will be building on vocabulary throughout the semester. The structure of the class is: - introduce new vocabulary or grammar - group pronunciation practice - games/activities We use Google Slides (similar to PowerPoint - no account necessary for this) and the Zoom whiteboard to teach. We have an engaging teaching style where we incorporate game and conversation with the students. In that sense, we interact often throughout the lesson. Sometimes we use Nearpod (see Parental Guidance below - no account is necessary for this). Students receive a PDF of the materials I use and a class recording is automatically posted within 24 hours of the lesson so they can watch the lesson again. Re-watching the lesson typically helps with pronunciation and vocabulary or grammar practice. Topics Week 1 - Alphabet Week 2 - Alphabet II Even though some classes repeat, you don not need to have been present for week one to attend week two. You can join at any time. Week 3 - Spanish Greetings and Introductions Week 4 - Spanish Greetings and Introductions II Week 5 - Spanish Greetings and Introductions II Week 6 - Weather Week 7 - Weather II Week 8 - Colors Week 9 - Colors II Week 10 - Colors III Week 11 - Food Week 12 - Food II Week 13 - Food III Week 14 - Clothes I Week 15 - Clothes II Week 18 - Clothes III Students will build a foundation of vocabulary so they can begin to communicate in Spanish and understand the structure of the language. We look forward to teaching your child the foundations of Spanish and can't wait to see you in class! ***Students can join anytime. Message us with any questions.***
Learning Goals
Students will learn present tense verbs and build foundational vocabulary in Spanish.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
1. If students can use a device that has the annotate option on Zoom, that would be great (not required). Typically Chrome books and older computers do not have the annotate option on Zoom.
2. Sometimes we use Nearpod. No account is required. I provide a link in the chat box and students click it. They add their first name, click join, then they see slides and participate in interactive activities.
3. I will often share the screen showing Google Slides. Students do not need an account for this. At the end of class I'll provide a PDF with the lesson materials.
