Beginner Spanish for Equestrians: Communicating at the Barn en Español

Learners will learn basic Spanish grammar combined with specific vocabulary words and phrases that are useful around the barn and in typical equestrian scenarios. Fundamental grammar skills will be incorporated so that learners will be able to communicate in complete sentences. Students will learn to conjugate commonly used verbs at the barn in the present tense. Learning Goals
Students will learn to properly communicate in Spanish while at the barn. Learners will be encouraged to speak in full sentences as much as possible by combining the vocabulary terms and grammatical concepts focused on in each class session.

Parental Guidance
My classes include interactive activities for students to complete as we proceed through each lesson. I utilize Nearpod, Pear Deck, EdPuzzle. Kahoot and Jamboard activities to further students' comprehension and communication skills. To participate in these interactive activities, students will only need to click on session links that I post for them in the Zoom chat during our live meetings. No personal information will ever be required of students in order to participate in these activities and they will not have to create accounts within any of these external resources in order to participate during class.

I am a certified Spanish teacher with over sixteen years experience teaching middle school and high school Spanish. I have also been an equestrian for many years and own my own small farm with three horses. I am an adjunct professor for Post University's Equine Studies program. I am a dressage rider and adult amateur competitor with the United States Dressage Federation and often have to communicate at the barn with Spanish speakers.
