1-2 hours per week. This course is a self-paced class which means students can learn at their own pace. Each week after watching the video(s) and completing the worksheet(s) students are encouraged to take a picture of their work and post it in the classroom. Students are also highly encouraged to record a video of them repeating the vocabulary words and phrases from the week or presenting their worksheet(s). Student work can be posted on the classroom page or sent in a private message so that the teacher can provide feedback and guidance on pronunciation as needed.Grading
The teacher will watch student videos in order to provide feedback. The teacher will also review images of student worksheets and offer encouraging comments and guidance as needed.Class Experience
Beginner Level
Hola! 🌟 Who is this class for? 1) This class is designed for beginner Spanish students who want to learn in a flexible way through videos instead of live meetings. 2) Students with little to no previous exposure to the Spanish language are welcome! 3) Students who want to learn Spanish and have fun! 4) Families with busy schedules! Students can learn at their own pace. Watch the videos and complete the activities when you have time during the week. This course does not have any live meetings. ********* 🌟Each topic includes the following... 1) 1-3 videos introducing the new theme and introducing activities. *Video lengths vary from 5-25 minutes long. 2) 1-3 Worksheets or coloring pages that reinforce what was learned in the video. 3) A set of printable flashcards for each of the 6 topics to reinforce new vocabulary and phrases. Color and black and white copies are available. 4) A parental guide for adults that are supporting their children during class. This guide will include the English translations of new vocabulary and phrases so that you can easily support your child even if you do not speak Spanish! 5) This course can be completed in 6 weeks. View the syllabus for more details on the 6 class topics. ********* 🌟 Teacher & Student interaction: After watching the video(s) and completing the worksheet(s) for each of the 6 topics students are encouraged to take a picture of their work and post it in the classroom. Students are also highly encouraged to record a video of them repeating the vocabulary words and phrases or present their worksheet(s). These student videos can be posted publicly in the classroom or sent in a private message to the teacher so that they can provide feedback and guidance on pronunciation as needed. Students can expect teacher feedback within a 48- 72 hour period Monday-Friday. ********* IMPORTANT: Class videos, resources and materials are not full immersion. There will be some English to clarify language concepts. The guidance sheet for adults will have English translations so that families can easily support their children during class.

Introductions & greetings- "My name is____", "I am ___ years old", "I am (fine/feeling bad)". Students learn new vocabulary and create a worksheet that helps introduce them in Spanish.

Introductions & Greetings in Spanish
Let's Get to Know One Another in Spanish! Students will learn new vocabulary and complete a worksheet that will help introduce themselves to others. They will learn how to say things like "My name is____", "I am ___ years old", "I am (fine/feeling bad)" in Spanish.

Lesson 2:
Emotions in Spanish
Students will expand their vocabulary so they can describe when they are feeling happy (feliz), sad (triste), tired (cansado/cansada), and angry (enojado/enojada) using full sentences. Students will do drawing activities and play charades to practice.

Lesson 3:
Pets in Spanish
Students will practice counting and learn new vocabulary to identify different pets that can be kept in the home through stories, coloring and games. Students will learn words like mascotas (pets), dog (el perro), cat (el gato), fish (el pez), bird (el pájaro), and numbers 1-5.

Lesson 4:
Farm Animals in Spanish
Students will learn new vocabulary as they go on an adventure to help bring the escaped farm animals back to the farm! Students will learn new words like las vacas (cows), las gallinas (chickens), los gallos (roosters), los caballos (horses) and las ovejas (sheep). They will complete a maze activity and coloring sheet to practice.

Parental Guidance
A family guide and checklist is provided each week for the adults that are supporting their children during class. This guide includes the English translations of new vocabulary and phrases so that adults can easily support their child even if they do not speak Spanish!
The main introduction video is posted to each weekly post. Additional song, story and activity videos are embedded in the post via a link that will take you directly to the class video on youtube. If you have any trouble accessing the videos send us a message so we can help!
