This group singing class is designed for beginners who are new to singing and want to develop their vocal skills. In this class, students will learn basic vocal techniques, including breathing exercises, posture, and vocal warm-ups. They will also learn how to sing simple melodies, understand rhythm and timing, and develop their sense of pitch. Throughout the class, learners will be introduced to different musical styles and genres, helping them to develop their musical knowledge and appreciation. They will also learn how to perform with expression and musicality, developing their stage presence and confidence. When learners are ready, they will be well prepared to take a Rockschool singing exam, which will assess their skills and knowledge. This exam will be based on the debut or Grade 1 level syllabus and will include a range of exercises and songs that the learner has learned throughout this class. Sheila Paton - Voice and Piano Teacher
Sheila Paton, B. Mus. in Vocal Performance, brings over 15 years of music teaching experience, catering to diverse age groups and skill levels. Proficient in online teaching platforms like Zoom and Google Classroom, she fosters effective communication and adapts lessons to individual interests and capabilities. Paton excels in motivating students and has experience with special needs learners. Her versatile musical background spans various genres, complemented by training in dance, drama, and musical theatre. Additionally, she actively contributes as a pianist for community events and has participated in numerous choirs, including international tours. Paton's dedication to music education and community involvement shines through her extensive volunteer work.
Sahiba Arora - Voice Teacher
Sahiba Arora was a student at the Mahidol University, College of Music in Bangkok, Thailand, the top music school in Thailand majoring in Western Classical Performance (Voice).
In 2019, she got the chance to fly to Singapore to join the Vocal Star Music Talent and Competition.
In 2020, she reached the Semi Finals round of the 23rd SET Youth Music Competition. In 2022, she won first prize at Saints Got Talent which gave her the chance to represent her college at provincial finals; “Ontario’s Got Talent”! She has also gotten the chance to perform her first solo with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra in their upcoming March 2023 season.
Mala Weissberg - Voice and piano teacher
Mala Weissberg is a Mezzo Soprano currently pursuing her Master’s in Music degree at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. She graduated with a B.A. in Voice Performance at Westminster Choir College at the top of her class (summa cum laude.)Award recipient from the Career Bridges Foundation, Winner of Westminster Voice Competition and title of “Musical Prodigy” from the State of Israel. Recent highlights include soloist in ‘Love, Beauty and Death in Venice’ concert in Toronto with Tafelmusik as well as guest soloist in International Women’s Day Concert with Association Femme d'Europe in Brussels.
