Class Experience
In this 2-day LIVE sewing camp, students will learn an important life skill, sewing. Students will practice sewing straight stitches and learn to sew zig-zag stitches. Students will learn and work on measuring fabric, learn about woven fabric and cut fabric using scissors or a rotary cutter. Students will work independently or with an adult to measure, cut and/or sew straight and zigzag lines and their two sewing projects, a pillowcase and a simple skirt. Student will learn to sew straight lines. Student will learn to sew zigzag lines. Student will learn to take self measurements. Student will learn to measure fabric. Student will learn to cut fabric based on measurements taken.
I have been sewing and designing for more than 20 years. I am dedicated to teaching and sharing my knowledge about an essential life skill to future generations who have the desire to learn.
Working sewing machine Thread for your machine and color of your choice Basic sewing supplies: needles, pins, fabric scissors, seam ripper, ruler/measuring tape (sewing kits can be purchased from any sewing store) 1 yard cotton woven OR 3/4 yard of cotton woven for main fabric and 1/3 yard of coordinating cotton woven fabric, coordinating thread Basic Simple Skirt: 1 yard cotton woven fabric minimum 2 yard maximum, coordinating thread, 1 pack/yard of 1" wide elastic
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
3 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
