This course is designed for students who have a basic understanding of how to use Scratch. They should know enough to be able to create simple projects on their own, but may need help on more complicated parts of their game/project. For beginners who still need to learn the basics for how to use Scratch-please try out my one-time Beginner's Scratch Course! This course is designed to be a place where students who are still a bit new to Scratch can explore their new skills together. Students can show what they are working on, exchange ideas for new projects, and get help with any bugs they have come across. Students will have the opportunity to interact with each other to talk about their Scratch projects. I will be there to moderate as well as assist with some more difficult Scratch concepts. We will start the session by showing and/or discussing our current projects. If a student does not have a project started they can talk about what they want to make and get suggestions and advice on how to start. Or they may be working on learning a specific skill (making a button, animating a sprite, working with sounds, etc). Students will also exchange ideas. Each student will be given the opportunity to show their work through screen sharing and will be expected to participate in the discussion on others' work.

Parental Guidance
Scratch is an online community where students have the opportunity to share their finished work. Digital citizenship/safety will be discussed in each session. I always advise the students to get permission from parents before sharing any projects. Scratch users are able to comment on other projects and interact with other users this way. Although the guidelines and policies are very good with Scratch, it is still important to be involved with your child's online life.

Students should already have a (free) Scratch account made Computer or laptop with access to the Scratch site (Chromebooks and tablets are not compatible with Scratch 3.0)

My name is Meagan Khatthaname and I am an elementary teacher who is now teaching fourth grade. I am a former computer teacher who loves teaching Scratch coding and computer skills!
Beginner Scratch courses

Homeschool Computer classes
I offer private computer classes for students who are homeschooled or want to supplement their regular classes with computer/tech classes. I also have some group Google slides classes.
I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from UMKC in 2013
I taught in a brick and mortar public school for 6 years as a 4th-grade classroom teacher then a computer and STEM teacher.
I am TESOL certified (since 2015)
I taught ESL online for 3 years, but I'm now back into the classroom teaching 4th grade again!
When it comes to kids' learning, the sky is truly the limit. Too often I think kids are underestimated in just what they can accomplish. Giving children the opportunity to explore their talents and interests is such an important thing! As an educator, I have felt that exploring a child's strengths is the best way to help them succeed in life.
