In six 55-minute classes, beginner guitar students will learn new songs every week to hone basic skills and techniques. Acoustic and electric guitars are equally welcome.
Class experience
In this 55-minute beginner-oriented ongoing course, students will learn new music over six weeks utilizing basic guitar techniques to add variety and fun to their practice routine. Prior knowledge of reading tab, reading chord charts and tuning the guitar would be helpful but not fully necessary. Homework Offered
Most learning takes place during private practice time, so it's important that the student takes times to practice each day. A minimum of 5 minutes of focused practice time each day is a good place to start, and 15 minutes daily is a great target for a beginner.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

1. A guitar with all 6 strings (acoustic or electric will do). 2. A guitar tuner (I recommend a Snark clip on tuner, available from $15 to $20 USD) or an app that will work as one (I recommend GuitarTuna - it's free) 3. A few guitar picks. 4. A way to view the music and materials I will send out before class. 5. A good seat without arm rests, ideally one in which the learner can sit upright with their feet touching the ground. Optional, but nice: 1. A good, sturdy music stand. One with a solid back is best. These often cost $25 USD or more. 2. Print-outs of the music and materials I will send, as well as a folder or binder to keep them in.
Though the course will will be focused exclusively on the guitar rather than the lyrics, parents should note that some of these songs make allusions to adult themes. I would encourage you to find the lyrics online and decide whether or not they seem appropriate.
