Welcome! 😃 In this 4 day summer camp for complete beginners students will learn the basics of playing the recorder. This is a live group class that will meet once a day for 4 days. 🎶 what the different parts of the recorder are called and how to put them together 🎶 how to hold the recorder correctly 🎶 how to take a breath and blow into the recorder correctly 🎶 how to play the notes B, A, G & C on the recorder 🎶 what note lengths are in music, and 4 kinds of different note lengths...
4 lessons//1 Week
Week 1Lesson 1Holding the recorder & BAGIn this lesson we will learn how to assemble the recorder, as well as about the different parts of the recorder. We will learn how to breathe & blow correctly. We will also learn how to play the notes "B", "A", & "G". We will learn how music notes are written down, and how to read those 3 notes in written form. We will learn "Bumble Bee" song. Students will need to practice those skills before the next lesson.Lesson 2Half notes & whole notesIn this lesson students will get to perform the "Bumblee Bee" song at the start of the lesson (only if they want to). We will then review everything learned in Lesson 1. We will also learn the "half note" & the "whole note", and practice some rhythms with those note lengths. We will learn the song "Au Claire de la lune". Students will need to practice a little bit before the next classLesson 3"C" and the "dotted half note"In this lesson students will get to perform "Au Claire de la lune" at the start of the lesson (if they want to; it is also fine to perform only a portion of the song). We will spend some time practicing rhythms and recognizing notes. We will learn a new type of note length--the "dotted half note". We will learn a new note "C". Then we will learn "Riddle song".Lesson 4Different types of recorders & mini performanceIn this lesson we will start by practicing rhythms & note-identification. Then we will learn about the different types of recorders, and see some videos of the different recorders in action. At the end of the lesson we will have a "mini performance" where students will be able to play their favorite song (from the ones we learned) in front of the class.
