In this 6 week course, students are introduced to phonics and reading with themes including LEGOs, Minecraft, and Star Wars. Students will focus on reading CVC words and word building using some of their favorite characters and books!

US Grade Kindergarten
Beginner Level
*No live classes Self-paced class designed for one learner over the course of 6 weeks. Students will be able to use recognizable blocky animals from Minecraft, images from Star Wars, and by using LEGOs and their favorite books and holidays to focus on letter sounds, phonics, and word building with CVC word families. Students will sound out each letter and blend to read the words with gentle guidance. They will enjoy learning to read CVC word families with me and singing a special song at the end of class using our words from the lesson. They will also be able to interact on the Kahoot! app by doing a weekly quiz after class. The younger students will love it!! The class breakdown will be as follows: Lesson 1: Reading CVC Words with LEGOs Lesson 2: Reading CVC Words with Minecraft Animals Lesson 3: Reading CVC Words with My Little Pony Lesson 4: Reading CVC Words with Star Wars Lesson 5: Reading Halloween CVC Words with Room on the Broom Lesson 6: Reading Holiday CVC words with The Polar Express This will be a fun way for early readers to gain confidence and review for older learners. Students should know letters but will repeat the letter sounds after the teacher.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their phonics skills through word-building, practicing CVC words, singing songs, and completing a quiz after class on the Kahoot! app (free download). Good for both native English speakers and ESL learners.
