I received my BA in Spanish in December 2016 from Nazareth College of Rochester NY and had the opportunity to study abroad both in Valencia, Spain for 7 months, and Cuzco, Peru for one month. In October 2019-March 2020 and again in August-December 2021 I traveled to South America and the Caribbean (Puerto Rico) to continue my studies of the Spanish language. Although I am not a native Spanish speaker I love speaking Spanish and sharing my love of language with others!

Students will need minimal supplies. Any worksheets will be posted in the classroom portal before class starts. Information for this class will be presented via Canva slide presentations and Nearpod presentations (a link will be posted in the classroom dashboard before class). Depending on how quickly the students go through the material we may have time to do some additional exercises to practice the vocabulary. Please have your student bring a piece of paper and something to draw with to each class. If time allows we will use these materials to continue practicing the new words. Students should come prepared to speak Spanish, interact with their classmates, and have fun! If there are any additional supplies I will list them in the classroom section before the class begins.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
In this course, I integrate interactive features in my presentations using nearpod (https://nearpod.com/). This will allow students to draw on the presentation and demonstrate their knowledge in a nonverbal manner in addition to our speaking activities and exercises. Upon enrollment each family will receive access to my "nearpod guidance" document which outlines the specific steps to access and use this tool.

Before class, I will post a link in the classroom portal that will allow students to access this interactive slideshow. Students do not need to create an account but will be asked to type in their name or nickname before accessing the presentation. Nearpod allows students to draw and complete activities independently on select slides. Students are able to submit their work to me so I can gauge their progress and understanding of the class objectives. If you prefer that your child does not use Nearpod then I am happy to screen share all activities and presentation slides. If you have a printer at home I will send worksheets that you can print so your child can complete the activities using a physical sheet of paper instead of using the Nearpod tool.
