In this 4-week class, students will begin learning to play the piano using the Alfred's Basic Prep Course for the Young Beginner in a class setting.
Class experience
In this 4 week course, students will learn to play the piano in a fun and encouraging setting. We will be using the Alfred Prep Course for the Young Beginner - Level A, and will expect to cover about the first half of the book, although pacing of the class may be adjusted as necessary. No previous knowledge or music instruction is necessary! Week One: Students will learn correct posture and hand position; quarter notes, half notes, and whole notes; and simple dynamics. Students will learn to play with correct technique, learn to read music, and learn to play several simple songs.
Homework Offered
Practicing 20-30 minutes each day is tremendously helpful in learning to play an instrument. New pieces will be assigned each week.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
