In this class students will learn a choreographed combo to a musical theatre song. Students will practice acting and telling a story while dancing.

Class Experience

The thing that makes dancing for theatre unique, is that not only are you dancing, but you’re acting as well. The storytelling of a musical doesn’t stop just because there’s a dance break-the storytelling continues through dance! This one time class will teach a short dance combination to a song from a popular Broadway musical and explore non verbal techniques to enhance storytelling and character portrayal while dancing. I hold a bachelor’s degree in theatre and have 12+ years experience performing in, teaching, working backstage, directing, and choreographing a variety of theatre productions. 

For the past 10 years I’ve been teaching recreational and competitive dance in a studio setting. From brand new toddler movers to seasoned teenage competitors, I’ve taught creative movement, beginning ballet and tap, jazz, lyrical, and of course, musical theatre. Many of my soloists have placed in the top 5 overall at regional and national competitions.
