This 5-week course is part of a five-part series designed for highly motivated students who are ready to dive into the exciting world of Japanese language. I started learning Japanese, myself, at 18 years old. Therefore, I understand not only which grammar or vocabulary can be tricky for teens but how to explain these in a way that is clear and accessible to English speakers. I have M.A. in Applied Linguistics and a B.A. in East Asian studies with minors in Japanese and East Asian Philosophy. After graduating, I lived and worked in Sendai, Japan, for two years as an elementary and middle school teacher. Since then, I have tutored students of all ages in Japanese, worked in a Montessori school with children ages 2-12, and formerly ran an adult Japanese language group for several years. I have also given many presentations to elementary and middle school children about Japanese culture and language.
