Class Experience

Beginner Level
***PLEASE NOTE that this class will only open with the minimum number of 3 students enrolled.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
What will be taught?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
New words and expressions based on the topic a first year Japanese learners are expected to learn, but the students are encouraged to bring in their topics as a starter. Students do not need to have any previous knowledge of the language, as this class is focused on the speaking and listening skills of the student. It will make a difficult conversation class when students do not participate.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::
How is your class structured?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Students are encouraged to actively join in the conversation. This particular class is focused on interpersonal speaking skills. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I cannot make every student talk, but I do bring in topics of my own when learners decide to sit back and not participate. It's a conversation class!! Conversation takes place organically, and I don't do scripted conversation class :)

::::::::::::::::::::::::::
How will you teach?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I will mostly be a facilitator of the conversation, except I demonstrate by speaking and writing on a collaborative board to have the students converse with the topic's related phrases.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::
How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Each class time students are encouraged to participate in the conversation and discussion. They will get to interact with myself and the peers as much as they participate.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Any required experience or knowledge learners need?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
None needed. The more you hear the target language, the more you will learn.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in speaking Japanese as a target language, converse on familiar topics that are commonly introduced in beginner levels, and build vocabulary and grammar toward lower-intermediate/intermediate level.

    Certified teacher for Japanese (EC-12), Mandarin(EC-12) and Art(EC-12). I grew up speaking Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese, so I have no problem mixing them up to meet your need. Many years of freelance tutoring experience for Japanese and Mandarin have helped me teaching all levels of Japanese including Pre-AP and AP classes at my former employment at a public high school.
