Beginner Learn to Write in Cursive - A Self-Paced Handwriting Class

In this 10 lesson beginner friendly, cursive writing class, students will learn and practice all upper and lowercase cursive letters. We will learn how to form the letters, connect the letters, make words and eventually write sentences. Even if your child has been introduced to some cursive before, they will still be challenged in this class. Because of the weekly choice board, I have included activities that are differentiated for learners at all different levels of cursive knowledge. Whether your child is a complete beginner, or has been introduced to some cursive, but needs to master it, this class will help with that! 

How is this class structured?
Each week, we will learn letters that use similar strokes and movements. The students will receive videos and a menu of items they can choose to complete to help practice the weekly letters. The menu would include fun, interactive ways to practice the letters, tracing worksheets and more! There will be a culminating project at the end where students will use what they learned and write a short paragraph story in cursive. 

How will I teach?
At the beginning of the week, the students will watch a video that demonstrates clearly how to make the letters of the week. I will check in on the students throughout the week and will send a weekly menu with ideas and assignments to give students a choice in their learning. My teaching style is happy and energetic. I do a lot of modeling and direct teaching so students know what is expected. I also believe in student choice. Students learn best when they are given ownership over their work! 

Learners will get to interact with the teacher by posting photos and videos of themselves doing the fun activities to practice cursive letters. For example, "Post a picture of you writing the weekly letters in shaving cream!" Learners will also get the opportunity to respond to my teaching videos, turn in worksheets from the copy work and more. 

Upon finishing the class (lesson 10 materials), I have provided a surprise EXTRA resource to practice writing silly sentences in cursive. This is to help your learner continue practicing what they have learned in a super fun way!
