Class Experience

**Please note that there is also a 2x/week for 2 weeks version of this class.**

In this multi-day introductory class, students will learn the 24-basic Korean alphabet letters and sounds, key vocabulary, and how to combine the letters to read/write words with their newfound knowledge. No prior Korean knowledge is necessary. We'll practice reading, writing, and speaking with the correct pronunciations through fun games, songs, stories, and discussions. This is a great class for those who want to learn the basics of how to read/write/talk in Korean and wish to build a strong foundation for further Korean study.

We’ll have a drawing art project where students will showcase the Korean they have learned. Optional reading/writing practice worksheets will be provided after each class. Students are encouraged to complete these on their own time to maximize their learning experience. Class instructions will be in English, and the teacher will demonstrate the Korean pronunciations (this is not a language immersion class).

Materials needed:
1.) Printable handouts (teacher will provide before class)
2.) Pencil & paper
3.) A small whiteboard and dry erase marker for games and review. (If student does not have a whiteboard, they can use paper and pencil.)

Hello, Parents and Learners! My name is Ms. Michelle. I’m a Korean American educator, avid traveler, and art/music lover. I’ve lived in and traveled around Asia, Oceania, and Africa. I’ve worked in public schools in Chicago and Seoul, South Korea, and I’ve taught a variety of subjects such as science, math, and ESL. I’ve also worked with students on life skills from critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, positive behavior and mindset, and public speaking.

In my spare time, I love to learn new things, so you will frequently find me at the library or a bookstore. The craziest thing I've ever done is diving with great white sharks while I was living in Cape Town, South Africa!
