Students learn how to type letters, numbers, punctuation, their name, symbols, the home row while practicing proper positioning with proper posture. We will also use teacher created games, chat box typing and typing of our name to practice.

Beginner Level
Prior to class beginning, there will website information shared in the classroom tab and login information will be sent as a private message to each student. The site used for practice of what we’ve learned is shared often in the classroom tab as a new post for learners to be able to access the site out of class hours for practice when they are able to do so. Students will build community and become connected to those they share time with in class through sharing, playing challenges against the teacher together, and we will be working toward the same goal together-building confidence and improving our typing skills.
Homework Offered
There will be lessons to practice online setup by the teacher. Students are in charge of completing their lessons as they are able to. The more they practice the more their wpm (words per minute) will increase as well as their accuracy. They will have some time in class to work on their lessons, but not all lessons will allow for time to be completed in class which means it may take time outside of class too. The lessons are not graded. Students may or may not finish all lessons depending on how long they take to complete them and how much time they have to devote to practicing. This varies student to student so I do not require all lessons to be finished, but I do hope students will practice each day if time allows!1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students complete a one minute typing test on the first day we have class. The final day is when the second one minute typing test is administered to show slight to great improvement. Students are given a certificate if they use the login I’ve given them. The one minute typing tests are not for grades. These are simply to give students motivation to practice and improve. They work toward their own goals of improving as each student will have a different words per minute score based off of their age, experience and time given to practice.Grades Offered
Students will need to be able to access the chat box on zoom and get online to practice their typing lessons. It is recommended to write down the login information I send students in messages on Outschool to give your learner a visual to follow when we login each day during class.

We will be using a typing site and the chat box to practice our typing and play games for extra practice. All website information will be provided in the classroom tab including a printout with the link. Login information will be sent via messages prior to class beginning. Adults will need to help their students with logging in on the website when needed. Eventually students will get to where they can do it on their own after many times. It's helpful to create a sign next to their device to help them remember how to do this. I do provide a printout for each student if you'd like to print that and use it to help your student with logging in by leaving this where they will be taking the class as a reference. Students are given assignments to complete each week before we see each other again. These are not graded or required. The lessons are only created to provide students a chance to practice what we learn. The more they practice, the more they improve. It’s up to each student to complete their assignments. If time allows, we will work on our assignments at the end of class too.
