***Each section of the class will require at least 3 students to open. When there aren't enough students to start a class, the starting date will be extended to the following week. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What will be taught? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// SPRING SCHEDULE ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Here is a schedule for the first few weeks of the class. Wk1 Jan. 3rd-7th // New Year's Tradition, Greeting Phrases for the New Year Wk2 Jan. 10rd-14th // Beyond the basic self-Introduction Wk3 Jan. 17th-21st // Describing current situation_family and self Wk4 Jan. 24th-28th // Describing yourself to a homestay family Wk5 Jan. 31st- Feb. 4th // How to-Te-form for うverbs Wk6 Feb. 7th-11th // How to-Te-form for るverbs and Irregular verbs ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How is your class structured? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: We will meet in zoom for 30 minutes once a week. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How will you teach? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: On zoom through Outschool platform. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What's your teaching style? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Easy-going, but perhaps because of the subject I teach, most students are really respectful, which I truly appreciate. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Learning a foreign language is all about interaction!! There will be interactive class activities for informal assessments. In-class pair activities are designed to develop each student's 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. If you are a home school student who is looking for a formal assignment grades, I will be happy to work with you (but I need to know what is expected). ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Any required experience or knowledge learners need? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: If the student has learned Japanese for a year, or even self-studied Japanese for a year, should be comfortable in this level.
Learning Goals
Students will strengthen their ability to create with language, converse on familiar topics that are commonly introduced in beginner levels, and build vocabulary and grammar toward intermediate-mid level.

Texas Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Art and Design from University of North Texas
Certified teacher for Japanese (EC-12), Mandarin(EC-12) and Art(EC-12). I grew up speaking Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese, so I have no problem mixing them up to meet your need. Many years of freelance tutoring experience for Japanese and Mandarin have helped me teaching all levels of Japanese including Pre-AP and AP classes at my former employment at a public high school.
I am also experienced in curriculum building for 4 years of Japanese language education based on ACTFL proficiency standards as a former school teacher. As I teach more and more students from all over the world, I have become more familiar with CEFR rating as well as GCSE tiers.
I am an active board member of JTAT(Japanese Teacher's Association of Texas) and I host workshop webinars for JTAT members as well as give presentations at foreign language teachers' conferences to offer opportunities to learn new skills, new strategies, and best practices.
