Class Experience

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
What will be taught?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Japanese writing systems
Hiragana
Greetings
Self-introduction
Numbers
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
How is your class structured?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
We will meet in zoom for 30 minutes twice a week. The first meeting of the week will be conducted with expectations of students having studied the vocabulary, so we can practice the applications of the newly introduced material. Second meeting of the week will be conducted with more in-depth application of the new material and speaking practice with classmates or with myself (depending on the number of enrollment).

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
How will you teach?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
On zoom through Outschool platform.
External resources such as Quizlet for vocabulary decks,

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
What's your teaching style?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Easy-going, but perhaps because of the subject I teach, most students are really respectful, which I truly appreciate.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Learning a foreign language is all about interaction!! There will be interactive class activities for informal assessments. Pair activities/assignments are designed to develop each student's 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. If you are a home school student who is looking for a formal assignment grades, I will be happy to work with you (but I need to know what is expected).

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Any required experience or knowledge learners need?
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::
None for this one.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
I have Quizlet and Gimkit vocabulary games students can use outside of class to study vocabulary from the class. For Quizlet, students will need to have their own account to have access to my private folder of vocabulary. We use Gimkit to play vocabulary games or help students with learning hiragana from time to time. Students will go to https://www.gimkit.com/join and type in a class code to join the game together with everyone in the class. No apps or anything else is required.
Supply List
Students need a free Quizlet account created before the class to have access to vocabulary you will learn from the class. But the lists on Quizlet are offered as an extra supplemental materials.

The good old fashion way of taking your notes is always recommended.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
